It's Monday and this week I am digging through my pile of untouched Johnny Marr photographs.
This was from a most incredible evening at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia MD, one of the greatest outdoor music venues in the entire US. A night in June with Johnny Marr as lead guitar for Modest Mouse and REM. Perfect weather in a magical venue which has had most every great band grace its stage.
Johnny Marr, described as "arguably Britain's last great guitar stylist" is well known by my generation as co-songwriter with Morrissey, and lead guitarist of The Smiths.
The Queen is Dead. Anyone have any better live video please share- couldn't resist this though.
Hope you enjoy these two photographs of Johnny on stage with Modest Mouse. Remember thinking I was too close when shooting these. Too close to Johnny Marr- that seems the oddest. I will pull some more later in the week, and these will be listed in the shop as limited edition fine art prints.
Lastly, here is a fantastic interview. Johnny talks about this guitar you see in the above photograph as well as compare and contrast his new role in Modest Mouse with his role in The Smiths.
